Easter egg dime cache

Nate and I met up with Fern. Nate met him through the Friends Church and has been detecting for some time. We didn't have a lot of time so we went just went to the metroparks. I was wandering around a hill and went into the brush. Under a tree I found a broken easter egg with 47 dimes scattered on the surface. That was a fun find!



Also found a cheap ring (probably just silver plated) an old hot wheel and a pendant.

A Random Indian Head

The day was beautiful and I just wanted to be outside for an hour. I went to the metroparks (the old Ruple homesite). Went were all the bottle caps were and got a good penny type signal. Dug up this 1892 Indian Head. It wasn't even that deep. A lot of the bottle caps are deeper.

Last of the Iceberg?

Nate and I went out to the place we code named "Iceberg". Didn't find anything special. Just a bunch of wheat pennies (around 20).

1923 Walker

Today I just needed to go out and enjoy the weather for an hour. Going down to the metroparks seemed like a nice relaxing place to go. I didn't care if I was going to find anything but ended up finding a nice coin about 6 inches down in the middle of a field.

Old beatup car at the Twinsburg foundation

I took a trip out to the Twinsburg foundation after work on a Friday. Hunted about an hour. Didn't find much. The old car is pretty cool. Too bad it's in such bad shape.

If Nate can do it then so can I

Well Nate went out to hunt a particular spot but all the people at the place he wanted to detect prevent this. So he went to the local "hunted out" school. He came home with a silver rosie and a merc. Wow, I thought, if he can do it then shouldn't I be able to at least find one? Turns out I was right. I found the Silver Rosie in the same hole with the 1959 penny.

After 5 years - oldest coin yet!

We had Easter at our house this year. A few days afterward I had to return the table I borrowed to my mom. Since the weather was decent I figured I might as well do a little detecting. I started in the back and fairly soon found a wheat penny. This was surprising but then I found another penny. I dug some more junk in the area and as I was about to leave the thought struck me: “If I found this stuff in the back maybe there might still be some finds in the front where we found all the good stuff”.
Sure enough, after 5 minutes I got a good signal, dug it and couldn’t believe I found a Large Cent.
1835! Wow, I thought, after 5 years we just now find the oldest coin!

Here is the spot where I found it (in the center of the four flags). All the red flags mark iron signals. That is why we missed it all these years - iron masking. The Large Cent itself was within a few inches of a nail.
